Househam talks expansion, exports and Brexit on BBC News at Six

Did you spot Househam on the national BBC News at Six?

Contributing to a feature on economic growth in the UK alongside Chancellor Phillip Hammond and a top economic analyst, our managing director Robert Willey discussed our exporting success and the exciting growth opportunities that Brexit presents.

Speaking to Economic Correspondent Andrew Verity, Robert shared our perspective as a thriving British business that is prospering internationally — with 40 per cent of our product being shipped around the world in 2017.

Watch the full clip here:

Echoing the chancellor’s views of investment equalling success and growth, Robert explained how Househam is pouring money in our current site to prepare ourselves for a boom in business.

New factory expansion doubles production for Househam

Househam has completed work on a six-figure investment on its new factory in Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire.

The new facility increases our factory’s footprint by 30% and production capacity by 50%, with double the number of construction bays for Househam’s latest state of the art self-propelled sprayers. There’s even space to test the biggest sprayers in our range.

The expansion comes after a successful 12 months for Househam which saw us grow our exports by 25 per cent.

“This factory completes the first stage of our investment into our future. We design and build all our machinery on site, so improved, increased facilities will improve and increase our service to farmers — providing more farmers with the advanced technology they need to meet today’s agricultural demands. We’re a British business and Brexit will create opportunities for us, both here and abroad. Our new factory will allow us to meet increasing demand — supporting farmers worldwide while supporting the local economy here.”
Robert Willey, managing director of Househam

The factory also houses a second hand workshop, offering servicing and parts to its diverse, global customer base. This growing customer base requires a growing staff team, with Househam creating jobs for both new and experienced workers in the industry. The new factory is currently manufacturing the HARRIER, Househam’s latest self-propelled sprayer that was launched this summer.

Designed and built directly from operator feedback, the ‘next generation’ HARRIER comes fitted with Househam’s trademark Total Machine Control (TMC) V3 and FieldMaster GPS advanced on-board operating system, delivering what the company believes to be the most efficient and precise sprayer application in its class.

With the factory complete, Househam is now set to enter its second phase of development as construction begins on its ‘Househam Academy’ — a specialist training space for customers, staff, and local young people interested in the industry. The Academy is due for completion by the end of the year.

Househam promotes Phil James to Engineering and Quality director

We’re excited to announce the promotion of Phil James, our engineering manager. Phil will now be Househam’s engineering and quality director, leading the whole engineering department and in charge of business improvements.

Based at our Woodhall Spa HQ, Phil only joined Househam in 2017, but has made a significant impact in the short time he has been here.

Phil has started his new position at an exciting time for Househam, with the launch of our new ‘operator-inspired’ self-propelled sprayer the HARRIER. Designed and built in Lincolnshire, the HARRIER is the latest addition to the Househam range.

The ‘next generation’ machine comes fitted with Househam’s trademark Total Machine Control (TMC) V3 and FieldMaster GPS advanced on-board operating system, delivering what its makers believe to be the most efficient and precise sprayer application in its class.

Phil’s appointment coincides with the recent completion of phase one of our factory expansion which has doubled our production capacity. Phase two is now planned for completion by the end of 2018.

“Phil’s promotion is fantastic news for the company. He’s been a valuable asset since he joined the team, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Househam as he progresses. His appointment comes at the same time as the launch of the HARRIER and he has some exciting ideas for the future.»
